Really enjoying the little I'm able to watch of this match. Draper played the least one kinda Sloppy serve game first set it seems but has really hit a high level since and was dominant on serve and has just not managed to take any of the multiple chances to break he's made. He took the breaker tho. There was a short medical time out in the tiebreaker which I missed ...I think maybe a blister. Stats wise Jacks numbers really improved that set whilst socks got worse

Not, a blister. (8.10 on the highlight reel) In trying to run everything down he took a hard fall at the back of the court, near to the plant pots and car. Took some time to get up. In fact Sock helped him up  His left wrist was clearly hurting him and a bump to the knee was bleeding, and had to be cleaned up. It was very concerning for a while.

He's a good chap, Mr. Sock. I remember when at Wimbledon he tweeted asking for the name of the person who he'd thrown a towel to and they'd had it taken off them so he could send them another.

I have heard good things about Sock as well.  An old friend to this board - Fitzy - used to hit with him regularly a few years back. He always spoke very highly of Sock to me. Fitzy also told me that he regularly beat Sock on the practice court when the trained together. wink

Highlights of the match.

Some impressive stats too. 14 aces from Jack, 80% first serve % and 60% second serve %.

From the highlights he barely gave Sock a free point.

Those stats were more like 62 and 47 after the first set too so must have been closer to 90 and 70 for the two sets he won

The second set shows as 94% (15/16) and 92% (12/13)  biggrin

Given it was the TB set, which he won 7-2 in the TB serving 2nd, I make that he must have been 24-1 on winning service points then 3-1 in the TB.

The 3 sets were 62/47, 94/92 and 81/56.

Great win. Just watched a little of it back. I must be one of the few who likes Ken Thomas' commentating smile. Shame he's on so late again, although that said, if he finished a 3 setter around 9.30/10pm local time, the later the better for him.

I like Ken Thomas too, and he used to play great music in the breaks on Radiotennis.com. this match didnt appear to be on the radio as well this time.

Ah right, I wasn't sure if the couple of ! were meant positively or negatively (or even neutral), but as he doesn't seem to have the best rep on TennisForum, I assumed the worst, ha.

Cracking win for Jack. Hoping he can back it up but Young is no mug.

For some reason when I post to this board from my Iphone  it ignores all smileys and other emoticons,  and some punctuation. So the exclamation marks were to convey my enthusiasm. I have noticed also that it is not shared by many on this board currently. I was introduced to him though, by someone here who did describe him as a legend but that was years back.

Jack beats Young 6-3 7-6(7-2)!!! World number 193 Chris O'Connell of Australia up next!!

18 points now in the bag! This is turning into a bit of a breakthrough week for the lad.

I woke up at 4.30am - helped by my bladder- and then remembered he'd be playing so checked on my phone. At that point he was 3-0 up in the breaker.

Loses some points next week but then nothing before the AO so should be targeting points for AO qualifying which are well within his reach now
