I'm surprised to see the odds so close in the Paquet vs Brouleau match later, where the winner faces Eden. Paquet is the very slight 4/7 fave vs 5/4. I thought it would have been more like 1/6 vs 7/2 given the significant ranking difference, massive contrast in experience despite being of similar age. It'll be interesting to see how that one goes.

Well, Lou B is currently 6-3 5-2* up, so if anything, the odds were too conservative.
On paper, one currently ranked in the top 150 with wins over both Kenin and Garcia in the past 5 months, whereas the other was in Mexico beating Emily App in W15s earlier in the year, and while has significantly improved her ranking since, has had a few much lower ranked defeats recently. They'll have their metrics for setting their prices, and I guess one will be they think Paquet is currently overranked.
Eden will very likely be a reasonable betting underdog against either, but should Lou finish the job here, then on this basis, it's not really an upset.
Yep, 6-3 6-3 to Brouleau and that's who Eden will face in R2.
So both Sam and Eden avoid the #2 and #1 seeds respectively in the 2nd round. Not surprised that Indy DV beat Schoofs given her past credentials and did well at Roehampton (and she was 8/13 favourite), but was a bit surprised here.
