FQR:  (q3) Daniel Evans WR 48 vs (q8) Jérémy Chardy (FRA) WR 72 (CH = 25 in January 2013)

Chardy leads the head-to-head by 2-0 (6-4 7-6(3) at Surbiton last year & 2, 3 & 3 in the World Group QF of the Davis Cup in 2017 (on clay)).

QR1:  (q7) Cameron Norrie WR 69 defeated Brayden Schnur (CAN) WR 100 by 3 & 3

FQR:  (q7) Cameron Norrie WR 69 vs (q12) Thomas Fabbiano (FRA) WR 92 (CH = 70 last month)

There is no head-to-head.  Fabbiano only just squeezed past the local qWC, Hua Runhao (WR 684), by 7-6(2) in the third...

Concerned for Dan here, Chardy is decent although not so much in 2019. I suspect with Chardy being Fulham based these two have practiced a lot before and hope Dan knows his game, but he is also tricky and it could be a very tight match.

Cameron Norrie, however, I think will win with comfort in 2 sets.

 Or maybe Jon?!

Seriously, chardy and dan play similar games, and if dan was t on top form, I suspected chardy would take him in 3. Cam seems to be showing signs of form and I felt his match v andy last week may have got him in groove.

Happy to see Cam get the win and qualify. Shame Dan couldn't join him but Dan's form has been the strongest out of our men this year so I have no worries about him going forward.

I was worried about burnout with Dan after yesterday's game, and his good run in Beijing.

It's interesting about Chardy and Dan practising together though, and am interested if that was a big factor? Would anyone who saw the match or has more information on that like to comment please?

Hi helen, I dont know for sure if they practice, but chardy is London based and does train in london so imagine as top players they will have done, as will he with other British players no doubt. I think any knowledge of someone's game close up helps. Andy mentioned he and Cam have played recently and Cam bettered him in practice,  but then andy won the match. Federer and dan practices together as was well reported and then federer demolished him when they played last time, after a close match in their previous meeting.
