I didn't see the Evans match, but I watched a replay of Andy's match and I was so impressed with the way he is hitting his backhand. Looks like he is being much more aggressive with it, also coming to the net more. I've always been very impressed when he is hitting his backhand crosscourt with more aggression and also when he's confident of his backhand down the line. Should be very interesting against Thiem's single hander.
Doubles semi big for neal, will get a career high rank with one more win. Jamie back into top 10, could go 9th with another win, or possibly 8th with the title

Possibly CH for Neal. But come Monday one or both of Roger-Vasselin and Skugor could be ahead of Neal. Would both be ahead if Neal & Jamie are RU in Beijing and Skugor+ beat Roger-V+ in the Tokyo final ( they are currently also at the SF stage), leaving Neal as WR 28 and one place off his CH 27.
Winning the title would ensure Neal a new CH so might as well do that

Lost the first set 2-6, but looking at the points, it seems much closer than the score would suggest. I'm glad Andy's getting closer to his top level. I guess only time will tell if he can get to bug 4 standard.
Sounds like Andy did ok against a top 5 player. this week sort of positions him up into the top 50 in real terms perhaps, hard to be precise clearly, but moving in right direction.
Shanghai next week and a few days rest now to get ready for that.

I think that this shows that when he is fully conditioned he is a good candidate for World No. 4 - not sure that he will trouble the big 3 just yet. At least if they are fit; but with old age and injuries, who knows. Australia could be interesting.
I think Andy should and will feel extremely positive about his progress so far. He has already exceeded my expectations for this stage of his rehab into match play.
