The breadstick for Andy... A great win and now up to LR 286 and GB #6!

Andy admitted to being nervous today. Think he will be very nervous v Thiem - high level match-up will give him more of a clue about his progress. He's doing brilliantly and seeing his rate of progress already, he should be encouraged whatever the result.

Don't know about being very nervous. Well as Andy has done he will still in many ways be the challenger out to prove himself again. May just relish it much more than the domestic vs Cam.

Andy will be a dangerous floater in Shanghai for sure and it will be interesting to see should he come up against one of the big 3 there, could well happen whilst he is floating around unseeded.

I LOLed when I read that! He will indeed.

How many PR/WCs has he got left to use? I see he's 286 in LR, but that won't get him anywhere near tour level tournaments.

At the rate he's going he won't need to worry Helen. If need be he will get WCs too. He may need to use his PR to get into the Aus Open, but by the time of the actual tournament I expect him to be back inside the top 100. And all the seeds will be anxious to avoid meeting him early on!

Dan 3-4 with serve, things going as many will have anticipated.  JI served 3 aces and an unreturnable in his last game

Good set of tennis. Really close. Isner ends up with the tiebreak, mainly due to one missed overhead shot from Dan.

Isner takes the tiebreak.  Dan did have a couple of BPs in the set.  Dan isn't out of this yet.

Fabulous defence from  Dan on his last service game.  There is a different strategy fromn JI on his return games:  when hhe has the slightest, he pulls the trigger.

JI's more agressive return tactics pay off.  He gets the break and serves at 6-5

Isner wins but I get the feeling that Dan really enjoyed that match.

That was as entertaining as a match can possibly be against a serve monster. JI wins 6&5.   A high standard of tennis.  JI's serve was dominant.

What a shame. Dan was the better player for much of the earlier part of this match. His speed seemed turbo driven at times. Oh well cry. Next time.
