1) Barty vs 7) Kvitova - 2 of the more consistent players.
3) Svitolina vs 8) Bertens - Svitolina should just about be in Shenzhen now, but a win here would effectively seal it. Bertens needs a win to pass Bencic in the Race.
4) Osaka vs 5) Andreescu - possibly the first of many latter stage matches between 2 players who many think may dominate the women's tour going forward.
16) Wozniacki vs Kasatkina - it does stand out as a bit of a weak link compared to the other matches, and the only non top 8 seeds remaining, but while both have had poor years, they both did end 2018 in the top 10, and had some decent (H2H) matches last year, including the French, and both needed big runs as Woz is the defending champ here, and Daria won Moscow, so would have both had huge falls without this run.
Superb QF entertainment from Osaka/Andreescu
They could be at it like this for the next decade or so. If that's the case, along with others, like Barty, adding to the mix, then the future of the WTA looks very vital.
