Yep good summary CD. Bar Gabi, it's been very good and probably better than expected. Suzy was always up against it, and it would have been some effort for Emilie to beat Garland. Emilie vs Ola instead would have nice to guarantee a winner, but at this stage, both would have struggled against most of this field. Gervais has caused problems for a few Brits this year, so nice for Sam to get past her (even if she was the seed), likewise Katy would probably have been expected to win, but she hasn't had one for a while due to injury and her opponent beat Gabi last week, so wasn't one to take for granted, and Lissey was arguably the star of the show - I didnt see the odds but I'd have exected Leonie to have been the favourite there, and it guarnatees GB interest in the QF as you say.
Sam has no points due off before next April and that's just 1 point which probably won't be a counter by then. Otherwise nothing to defend before May.
With nothing due off, in terms of banked points by the end of the year she is GB #4 after our top 3 in the rankings.
And in particular she therefore clearly has nothing to defend before the Australian Open Qualifying cut-off date. So may she just keep adding more points and rising through the ranking 200s to where she needs to be.
Maybe into next year but she must have a chance of getting back into the top 200.

Yes, there are two rises of the oldies this year which it has been really heartening to see... Sam is the first - and after our early doubts about the effects of her marriage she seems to have blossomed since
And the second heartening comeback story is Mandy of course. She will be back in the top 400 again next week, and if she gets at least one win this week, she will then go past Gabi in the rankings. There is still time for Mandy to be back in our top 10 by the end of this year. And after she was so close before her wrist injury a few years back, it would be wonderful if she could have a go at reaching FO qualifying next year.
Oh and Emma is going to get there sooner rather than later that's for sure... Umm though I'd like to ask her to hold off a bit until next year, when we can all get her into our top 10s
Is it possible to arrange a challenge match between Gabi Taylor and Naiktha Bains as neither seems to be able to win a set let alone a match. Gabi's fall is worse than Naiktha's in that she ranked 162 in December 2018 but Naiktha has never been in tbe top 200. If you had bet on this pair to lose in 2019 you'd definitely be in profit.
A bit of fight towards the end of the 3rd, but it's a third successive week where she lost the final set fairly wide (2-6 last week, and 1-6 in Israel the week before). We'll obviously never know, but it would have been interesting to see how some of those recent matches would have panned out had they have been in the W25 in Israel which she won, prior to the ankle injury at Surbiton, maybe no different. It's another event and more matches in the bag, and it's good that she is playing regularly at the moment, rather than say lose in R1 or R2, wait 4 weeks, lose in R2 again etc. Still plenty of events before the end of the year, including a string in India where she has had success.
Indy has had her injury issues so good to see her putting some wins together (generally that is, just not today).
Daria Snigur has just beaten Julia Terziyska in two tie-breaks, contimuing her fine form.
However, I just noticed that Julia names her coach as Evan Hoyt
Yep. I hope she gets herself inside the top 200 by June, which certainly looks possible, and then gets a Wimbledon MDWC next year, rather than 4 or 5 potentially going to waste again. That generally seems the criteria, if you were in already qualifying you get a MDWC, like Ostaponko and Swaitek, if not, a QWC like Potapova and Liu.
Last weeks winner safely through as well, so 7 wins in a row for her, and Jana Fett, who infamously held MP against eventual champ Wozniacki at the AO 2018, beat Jo Garland.
