You are right, it is three tournaments, BUT you can get a ranking from just one good result
From the WTA rulebook
Players must earn (i) ranking points in at least three (3) valid Tournaments, or (ii) a minimum of ten (10) singles ranking points or ten (10) doubles ranking points in one (1) or more valid Tournaments, in order to appear on the WTA Rankings.
Gutsy and good performance from Emma... but she didn't outperform Sam in the end, even if she reached a round further (Sam's loss yesterday to Anna-Lena being in a very close 3-setter that went right to the wire).
SF: RADUCANU, Emma (GBR) [WC] 550 lost to Anna-Lena FRIEDSAM (GER) [1] 208 (CH:45 2016) 4-6 2-6
Well, it seems incredible, but today must be a very, very sweet day for Anna. This is a long way down from where she was playing before, but never mind, this is a wonderfully heartwarming and elating return for her
Final: Samantha MURRAY (GBR) / Anna SMITH (GBR) UNR (254+UNR/CH46) def Sarah-Rebecca SEKULIC (GER) / Julia WACHACZYK (GER) CR901 (590+311) 6-4 6-3
That title for Anna on return makes me very happy. I really thought she was probably done after all this time.
Still potentially plenty left for both of our champions given the way the range of player ages has extended over the last few decades.
Well done.
Superb to see Anna back and with a title no less. And to have her partner for the week, Sam, and Mandy generally doing so well again in singles.
Last year was much about the crop of emerging young GB players, this year turning into more about their elders' returns as many of the former err considerately take a step back or six for now.
I'm already thinking next year's GB predictions will be rather challenging!
For this week though best of all to see Anna's great return and yes if she can stay fit and well she could still have many good years to come again.
OK, Emma R hasn't totally read the script. Well done her too

Anna doesn't play singles - last time she played she won a 10k years ago at Heraklion when Joss was injured.
However, it will stir up the doubles rankings - especially when she uses her PR.
