Poor Aidan had to retire. Close to the finish line too. It can't be good..... :(

Very worrying. Where are our onsite reporters when we need them most.

Had it not been for a holiday in Brighton this week I could have done some onsite reporting.....

Hope Aidan's going to be ok and that he will be back in action before too long.

We have three GB v Pesky matches on at the moment.

All our guys, not surprisingly, are major underdogs - one wildcard, one qualifier and one guy who's basically given up pro tennis.

And all of them playing seeds.

Accordingly, Finn M last lost the first set, 2-6.

However, Tom Hands is doing a grand job, on serve at 5-5

And Neil P is a break up, leading 5-3*

And then it all went pear-shaped.

As Neil lost 4 games in a row (but doesn't have a problem at clutch moments, of course, or even something to be perhaps worked on - hope you're doing well, sherbert ).

And Tom Hands got SO close - even has a SP in the tie-break (albeit on the Italian's serve) but ended up losing it.

George Houghton also lost 4-6 4-6 to the 4th seed.

As said, an upset was never likely, as such, given the rankings etc.

But there's some close scores and I'd hoped that just one might have got a prevailing wing and gone against the odds.

Scott still could, in theory, but he's down in the first set.

:(

Hmm, all the best to Luke but it's the kind of match that I'd like to see Anton by now dealing with and moving on.

We really could do with the likes of Anton and George L backing up Jack.

Yes, but that said, Luke played some lights out tennis in Glasgow.

However, I agree, if George and Anton are going full time, no uni option, then every victory counts, it's an unforgiving process.
