So that'll be 6 points to Sonay (0 to Grace) if Sonay wins and 5 to Grace (1 to Sonay) if Grace wins???? Is that it?

Thanks both, yeah noticed a few Porter tennis tweets when doing a Twitter search. She might be fiercely proud of Lithuania and have no intention whatsoever, and I don't know what her likely ceiling will be, but that could be another to potentially keep tabs on, especially if she's spent more than half of her life here. It doesn't look like she's played a Fed Cup match yet.

Emma vs Emily Arb as well. Pretty happy with that. Emily may have had more chance against say a Heisen or Gervais (but then she was soundly beaten by Tubello in a recent GB W25), but she'd probably have been an underdog against most of those options, so again, decent IMO. It's Eliz who has Gervais.

Garland vs (5) Tan, poor Andre has Friedsam, and Dodin vs Indy could be an interesting one to follow.

So with Sonay v Grace and Emma Rad v Emily Arb we've got two guaranteed winners, amongst pretty lowly ranked players.

Given Eliz got Fiona Gervais, our qualifiers really could't have done any better.

Bet Indy de Vroome isn't pleased to get Dodin, for instance. And Andre got the 3rd seed. And Jo Garland got Harmony Tan, the 5th.

We did good !

Almost a dupe post there CD, but good minds, and on second thoughts, 'pretty happy' is down playing it, it's a great draw.

If it's the same two courts that are streamed tomorrow, we've got nearly all the matches we want on them.

Just as well, I can't face leaving home at 6:30 to get there before 9am, so am going to be glued to the livestream instead.

Likely ceiling about 6ft 3.....she is definitely not too short for a tennis player!

Yes, except 1 point to Grace if Sonay wins.

All R1 losers, whether MD DAs, MD WCs or qualifiers will receive 1 point. But yes qualifiers who win their R1 will carry a point forward in addition to the 5, 9 etc.

Is this still the case? The ITF website has an asterisk by the 1 point for 1st round losers in 25k competitons and a footnote that from 26 August points will no longer be awarded? It isnt clear that this is what is meant so I could well be wrong.

Great day yesterday for Sonay though.

Anyone know anything about Sonay Kartal. She has just won.

Very good junior based in Sussex. Had a lot of injuries, but her junior ranking is going the right way and one of our better junior talents.

Thanks. Well she's made a great start in this tournament. Hopefully a springboard to more success.

More interesting is her style of play. She has a very particular, whippy forehand, with a very open grip, which she sees early, and the crosscourt does a lot of damage and is good to watch, a low centre of gravity and so anchors her shots well. But can't volley, is rather short....

She's from Brighton and has always been a favourite of mine, even when she was very lowly ranked, because she's different. But I'm not sure I see her as top 200 potential, not like some of the others when they were 17. I heard her discussing girls going to US college but don;t know what her plans are.
