Ola Pitak doesn't seem to have added any power or depth to her game. I know she's quite small and relies on grit and 'scuttling' but, not having seen her for at least a year, I was hoping for at least a bit more.
She's currently 0-5 down to Marni who certainly puts at least a bit more pep on the ball.
Freya is also leading 5-0
Our rather 'out-of'left-field' player, Sonay, is also 4-0 up v Tiff.
Nadia and Tamara, playing the 2nd and 1st seeds, are 2-4 down
Thanks, I even spoke to reception at the club and they didn't know!
Doesn't surprise me. (Although maybe it just suits them not to know - you can't say the NTC is the most welcoming place in the world - getting through the gates feels like entering Fort Knox. But just be brazen - go for it).
In the meantime, Marni Banks beat Ola Pitak very easily.
Freya is playing a perfect Freya match, winning the first set 6-0 and losing the second 2-6 (although Natasha obviously was top-500 not that long ago and certainly isn;t chopped liver).
Tamara and Nadia have lost.
In a really up and down set, Sonay finally won the TB against Tiff.
Based-in-Britain Andre Luk. seems well on the way to victory too
Tin hat time for the British fans and players. So far in every contest where one of our women has played someone from another country they have lost including Freya.
Anyone know anything about Sonay Kartal. She has just won.
Lots about her on the junior threads, for Junior WImbly and Roehampton, for instance.
Amelia Rajecki is holding her own well at the moment - her opponent is Q4 seed, but has a dreadful result sheet over the past few months. Amelia's f/h is doing some damage and the Spanish girl doesn't look great.
Nice to see Leylah Fernandez's even younger sister Bianca here. Pretty ideal opponent for her to start things off. Assuming she sees the job off, it'll be interesting to see how she gets on in her FQR.
