Week 38 - Challenger 80 (€46,600+H) - Murray Trophy, Glasgow, Great Britain (indoor hard)

Excellent first set by Luke. No idea about the second, expect it completely got away from him, but he should be proud of how he played in the first

Young Harry W played also played a brilliant first set, only born Dec. 2001, with his 'tennis-mad' mum who lurks on this forum

But he had three set points at 6-3 in the TB. And on the third, had a rush of blood to the head, and on the next point too.

And so ended up losing the TB 9-7, I think.

Which was a real shame - he had that tie-break......

With Aidan's defeat, that ends GB singles interest. On day 2.

So only two GB wins in the main draw singles from Glasspool and Johnson out of 9 GB players? How depressing. Why didn't Jay, Liam or James Ward support this event?

Jay was down to play, but withdrew. Much discussion has taken place as to Jay's progress/state of mind recently, but nobody here knows exactly why he pulled out.

As for Liam and Wardy, they are currently in the middle of the US and Asia swings respectively and I would imagine that to interrupt that for a "one off" event in the UK would be very disruptive to their schedule.

Yes worrying times for Jay, Liam has also had his problems and obviously James with injuries. I wonder who our next top 100 player will be. It seems like a massive gap between Andy and our big 3 of Evans, Norrie and Edmund....to the rest. Would anyone back Jack Draper or Paul Jubb to get to the top 100 before Jay. I'm not sure we have any other players with top 100 potential.

Jack is certainly the one I'd put most money on getting into the top 100 but not sure if he'll be the next. Jay at his best has had some very good results and tournaments. In April and May he was top 120 in this year's race and a ranking CH 153 soon after Wimbledon. His results this year have seemed rather more about him than the standard of his opposition and as documented he has fallen away over recent months. So get back in a good headspace, with his game in decent order, and he can push on again.

Overall though, yes, a distinct shortage of top 100 potential GB men.

As the top 17yr old in the world Jack must have a fighting chance and certainly has the weapons. When ive watched him his second serve looks a bit of a liability though.

For anyone going tomorrow Friday 20th September there is an EXTRA MATCH being played at 11am. Tickets for tomorrow are valid from that time and rest of the day as per normal. I have no further information but this came direct from the Ticket Factory because AMFF have a group going on each of Fri/Sat/Sun.

No idea who is playing the extra match so if you pick up on anything perhaps you could let me know!

@sallydaisy10is

order of play from 11am shows

Muller v Kuhn

Marcora v Rodionov

Masur v Ramanathan

Kamke v Ruusovuori

after 5 pm Doubles

After 6.30 pm Doubles - Jamie Murray

that seems to clear the full schedule as far as I can see
