Things not going great for Naiktha, 5 defeats in a row, or 11 in her last 13, whichever sounds worse. I was going to say it might have been better if Sam and Naiktha had drawn each others respective opponent for a better chance of 2 wins, but when you consider Naiktha lost to Freya and Rush1ti recently, we'd likely have had just as much chance of 0 wins than 2, so possibly worked out best as it did.

A good test for Sam tomorrow of where her game is at, one I imagine she will relish. Kostic is now the highest ranked player of the 4 left in their section of the q draw.
QR2: Samantha MURRAY (GBR) 304 vs Natalija KOSTIC (SRB) [8] 216 (CH:213 July 19)
Kostic did retire at 1-3 first set in her W60 quarter final match just yesterday, but as she won in straight sets today, you'd probably assume that was just tactical in order to be able to play this event, which is a bit of a farce (if true), but these things often happen in ITF events, or a tank if not a retirement.
She beat Maia 3 and 2 in that South Korea final just before the grass. Sam actually beat her in Manchester W100 quals - I believe that took place on the grass (not indoors), think I can now remember watching bits of that on a Facebook stream, and Beth took her to 3 at either Woking or Chiswick the other week.
Bookies have it pretty much 50/50 (with Sam a very slight fave), but definitely a decent chance of further points depsite being almost 100 places below her in the rankings.
Yes, the noisy Serb. Saw her at Chiswick against Beth (and saw Sam play as well) - and I reckon Sam can beat her based on the performances that day. My 10p ........

These 13 points so far take Sam up to GB #5 in the live race for 16/09.
1. Jo 2880 2. Heather 501 3. Harriet 414 4. Maia 213 5. Sam 188 6. Jodie 183
Indeed, with Maia's Shrewsbury title 51 points from last November included in her race points and all Sam's points being from this year ( as are all Jodie's ), Sam rates GB #4 in ranking points won in 2019.
