FQR: (Alt) Liam Broady WR 251 vs Denis Novikov (USA) WR 617 (CH 119 Aug 16)

Looks like Liam's trip was worth it in the end.

Edit

And no sooner than I have finished typing ...

I think somebody said that the average cut off is around the 250 mark usually, so he is borderline already.  He has 33 points to defend between now and the end of the year, so probably only needs a couple of good runs to get there.

Mmoh started slowly, Liam had 2 BPs in the first game, and then really wasted them, two UEs, one particularly wild and unnecessary.

So Mmoh looked a little happier and promptly broke Liam who was doing his new coming to the net tactic and wasn't far off but....

And then Mmoh held v easily.

On such little things - if you'd played those 2 BPs a bit tighter, Liam......

Well, that's a set to forget...... 1-6

Never rated Mmoh, neither his tennis, nor his attitude. As a junior he belonged with Kozlov, Paul, Rubin etc. in terms of rough potential but was often pretty obnoxious on court.

C'mon Liam -as you say, FOCUS !

Whatever happens, this has been a far better set and Liam leads 5-4*

You can see what I guess must be Samm Bulter's influence. Which is not a bad idea, although coaches have to be careful not just to try and encourage players to play the coach's game, because that's what they know and they like.
