The draw for qualifying takes place later this evening with tomorrow's matches probably scored on the US Open website. We have 3 boys listed in qualifying (Arthur Fery, Harry Wendelken and Blu Baker) though it should be good news if Arthur is missing from the draw, as he has moved up to first alternate for the main draw, so could be promoted if one of the Special Exempts is unused or there is a late withdrawal. In addition James Story and Oscar Weightman are close enough to qualifying to have a good chance of getting in once main draw wildcards are handed out.
James has managed to get in as an alt. Harry is on court having lost the first set on a tiebreak, won the second to love but down an early break in the decider

The absence of junior girls wouldn't be a concern if we had a few, like the boys, who are making some headway already on the Pro Circuit. However with just Emma R fitting that category it is an issue. There is still time though for one of the 96-99ers to step up to Jo's level, given that Katie B in particular had achieved reasonably comparable rankings in juniors and Pro at similar stages to Jo until her unfortunate injury.
Meanwhile Arthur was unable to convert six breakpoints and has lost the first set 6-4
