Yay, a couple of really nice looking wins.

Will be a big new CH on Monday week. One more win and into the final and he will very probably skip the 800s in the rankings all together and move into the 700s. So far up to GB #25.

He certainly looks to have the talent to continue to move much higher.

Looks like a very close match. Well done Anton for some good wins and pushing the number one seed so close!

Yes, following it on livescores, Anton so nearly had that match.

And Gaston is one of the French 'elite' lot, part of the new system (so I was told) who receive 30k a year or so, to train. (Well, that's not working well, is it, FFT?)

Frankly, I've known him since a nipper and wouldn't have in my ultra elite squad. But he's a good player, and has had buckets of help, that's for sure. (Anton obviously has been one of the LTA squad too, of course, he's not chopped liver).

Might have missed it but what's Anton doing next year?

From interviews round about Wimbledon Anton's going full time professional I think CD. He was taking about treating tennis as a job going forward. I think he's a pretty motivated guy as in a Daily Mail article he has grade 7 piano and was predicted A* A A in his A levels.

Thanks, Nix.

I remember reading he was doing maths, further maths and economics. Hope he got his grades.

His grandad represented the USSR in speed-skating and was pretty driven, from all accounts. And his dad wasn't far off.

So there's obviously a thread running through there.

Interesting that he's not thinking of college - although, of course, in purely academic terms, it's always there later if he wants.....

Sounds like it CD. I've got an 18 year old and there's a fair number of that age group that are swerving university anyway to get on the job training because they don't want the student debt. I'm sure with all his achievements he'd be a shoe in for one of those jobs, probably as an accountant, trader or economist.
