That type of logic is really not on. Phil Dent was Australian, with Taylor being a ranch hand.

Your comment is totally lost on me.

I think he means that just because they play for different countries or, indeed, are different nationalities, they could still very well be related.

However, they're not ! smile

Hi The Addict - yeh, I had realised Medvedev Andrei was Ukrainian but did wonder nonetheless.

Nonetheless, both fine players

Berretti beats Rublev in straight sets, the first Italian male (in singles) in 42 years to get this far.

Yes, and a great match too (after the first set, that is).

Really enjoyed it.

They're both pretty much the same age, Rublev number one in the world as a junior, Berrettini not even top 50 as a junior (although close).

Some great tennis (FAR better than the Zverev/Schwatzmann match). And the crowd well into it, too.

Yep, he did slightly better than his previous slam last 16 appearance wink, but then I suppose, after Fed's demolition of Goffin (and even Dan), that doesn't seem quite as bad now. He's generally good to watch and I'd be very happy if he could take advantage of that section falling apart a bit and make his first semi final. I suspect Monfils will beat Andujar later and might be too much for him in the quarters, but we'll see.

Schwartzman beats Zverev. Zverev is really struggling this year, it's sad to see.

And Schwartzman (20) does for Zverev (6) by 3-6 6-2 6-4 6-3.

Monfils' biggest opponent is himself most of the time so never say never.

That said, the Svitolina/Monfils double is still on (as is the Wawrinka/Vekic one even though they are no longer together).

Good year, bad year, on form, off form, Zverev's Slam best is two QFs at RG.

Though yes I do hope that he can get back onto a much better path generally and in time bring his best form to Slams.

Diego has made 3 slam QF's now (so better than Zverev's record so far) but that wasn't really my point specifically.

It's not so much the slams but the overall performance. So many double faults, passive play, lack of belief in self. When I watch him it sometimes it seems inevitable that he will be broken and lose. Like in the 4th set I was thinking - Diego will win this, even when Sascha broke him back.

Edited to make sense.

Not even an hour on the clock and Gael is 2-0* in the 3rd (and likely final) set, having won the previous 2 comfortably.

Just wish Kyle had been able to take advantage of a good draw here, after his two Medvedev ones, to be at least facing Monfils in this L16 ( winner to play Berrettini in the QF ).

I was thinking exactly the same when I posted that. I suppose at least from Kyle's perspective, Andujar did back up that win with a couple more, but definitely an opportunity missed.

Well he saw off the might of Sonego and Bublik anyway. I was more thinking that whole draw scenario could have been Kyle's. Monfils dispatches him 6-1 6-2 6-2.
