Week 34 - ITF (W15) - Wanfercee-Baulet, Belgium - Clay

Emily Arb in qualifying here, and Mandy C should be a high seed in the MD. Not a good q draw for Emily though as she will likely play Cemre Anil (TUR) [q1] WR 878 in the FQR. Q2 is WR1037, so some way the worst draw she could have, but she should still have a good chance to qualify. Anil won't like seeing her in her section either.

QR1: Emily ARBUTHNOTT (GBR) [q9] 1185 vs Maria LEMONAKIS (BEL) UNR/UNR Born 2002

QR1: Holly STAFF (GBR) UNR vs Eline AUDENAERT (BEL) [q10] 1236 (CH:1230)

Edit: Oh, I've missed Holly Staff, so have added her too!

Still not a WTA point yet for Emily after two wins so far, but good to see her beat the top q seed so comfortably to reach the MD!

Emily has drawn another qualifier in R1. If she wins that the 2nd seed would probably be her next opponent.

Mandy's next opponent, Indy De Vroome, won her match easily today against an opponent who actually has a slightly higher ranking than her. She is only 23 still, and with a CH 177 it could be a testing match for Mandy next. De Vroome spent between July 16 and Oct 18 out of the game, so like Mandy is presumably finding her way back from a long term injury too.

R32: Emily ARBUTHNOTT (GBR) [Q] 1183 vs Karen BARRITZA (DEN) [Q] UNR/890 (CH:396 April17)

R16: Amanda CARRERAS (GBR) [1] 434 vs Indy DE VROOME (NED) 683 (CH:177 July 14)

Indy de Vroome being "only 23 still" is another thing to make me feel my age and wonder where the years have gone.

Wasn't it just recently she was like 14 and the next big thing ?!
