I think Em has been visiting her sister in NY. So why not play when she gets the chance. Going to be tough, singles or doubles anyway, but Em loves to play........
Yes, no-ones the clearer as to the why. If she'd done well this week, fair enough, but since she lost in the first round, it would seem all the more useful it would be to play. But we've already commented on the mysteries of her scheduling. I see Emily is 4th up of 5 today, so some way down the schedule. Not that her appearance can be expected to be too long.
Actually there is a post yesterday from Cincinnati, 'just keep swimming, just keep swimming'.
I blame the re-org of the algorithm...but other than that, there hasn't been much?
This is the first since Sun 4th August and 'smiling my way into this week' in Toronto. Nothing that is that illuminating, particularly as in fact Jo has declined to keep swimming this coming week.
Emily got to deuce on Blinkova's serve in three of four games, missing one break point in the second game and one in the eighth, but was broken to 30 twice and lost the first set 6-2
One less game than in Doha, but I'd say more competitive overall with several half-chances (getting to deuce in 4 of 7 return games, a break point in 3 of those, and being up 30-15 in 3 of the games she was broken) and squeezed over the hour mark.
Be surprised if she's in the doubles draw but who knows!
