Well done Heather! So nice to see a wee run and it seems to be some very fine wins too.
Can she still make USO qualies ok?
That's what I am wondering - lovely to see Heather go on a run, but it will be bitter sweet if it costs her a qualifying place for the US Open. Surely she will be there in time - they aren't playing until Monday at the earliest, surely?
I don't think even the WTA ( edit: or rather the ITF ) would schedule a 100K final to make it too precarious for the finalists to make US Open qualifying.
Won't be great time and conditions prep, even if say a Tuesday QR1, but surely a welcome confidence boost and matches under her belt.

Another good win for Heather - and she has now matched her performance of last year by reaching the final, so one more win and she will be in positive territory for the week and actually see her ranking go up. Heather won't be the favourite for the final, so I hope she can stay relaxed and just go for it.
I'm still concerned that she won't be able to play in New York. The US Open rules state that anyone in the Q list still competing at 2pm EST on Sunday 18th will be automatically withdrawn, and the Vancouver final is 3pm EST, so unless there is a loophole somewhere, it looks like she will be removed, in which case I'd have far rather she lost today and headed over to NY, like Babos - not that Timea lost on purpose, although the 9 successive games lost from 4-3 to 4-6 0-6, suggests it could have been on her mind and tanked the second set when it was looking a bit ominous.
I guess we'll find out tomorrow, either officially somewhere, or just when the draw comes out, but she'd be by far our best hope of qualifying IMO, especially after doing so last year. IF she couldn't play both, then I guess another option could be to develop a 'cold' tonight (they are 8 hours behind), or first thing in the morning, pull out of the final, and get over to NY, so that at least she would have defended her final points, rather than losing in the semi final to safely get there.
An ideal world would be her winning tomorrow, head over to NY and then have her Q1 match on the Tuesday, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. It would be pathetic if someone missed out for doing well in a prior tournament.
That's crazy if she's not allowed to play. I don't usually like 'tactical' withdrawals but in this case they've kind of forced her if there are no loopholes. No one outside of the top 50 can afford to turn a potential Grand Slam pay day.

The maddest thing about this situation, if it is correct, is that from what others are saying, Heather won't actually have to play until Tuesday. When I first saw posts on this, I was trying to think about when the US Open qualies start, and my memory was that they start on the Monday with the men's first round and then the Tuesday with the women's first round, which is why I asked a couple of times in posts as to when Heather would actually be playing in the qualies.
That means that |Heather has the Sunday evening or all day on the Monday to get a flight to the US; with that kind of timescale, even if there were problems getting to JFK airport, it is quite feasible to get to Boston or Washington DC and then a taxi or even a train down to New York, so there really shouldn't be an issue getting there. To be forced to pull out of a tournament, when you have a day and a half's gap in between would be ridiculous, so hopefully it can't really be true. I am sure Heather won't believe it, if it is, and I won't either. Hopefully that 2 pm rule just applies to the men for the Monday.
