5 seeds have gone out in the first round and the number 8 seed is a set down so H & H could have a good week in the singles. They won their doubles 6-2 6-2.
Heather and Harriet are on Court 1 back to back today:
6pm Wang vs Hon Heather vs Nara Harriet vs Babos
I think Heather's match has got strong potential to go 3, but hopefully Harriet won't be on too late.
It was mentioned earlier, but the draw has massively opened up with the seeds crashing out, particularly the top half where Heather is. The bottom half is still reasonably strong because a potential path for Harriet could be Babos, then Wang Xiyu, then 3rd seed and top 100 player Sorribes Tormo, and that would be very tough. She's the underdog tonight for starters, and any of those potential opponents could have been a realistic finalist at the start of the event, but there's no obvious favourite to reach the final in the top half - dare I say the winner of Hev-Nara would probably be the fave to get there? Hibino is very inconsistent, so could be 'on' this week. Maybe young Fernandez can get to her third successive Canadian ITF final?

Can't wait to see how Harriet fares against Babos - tough opponent and will give a real idea of Harriet's form at the moment. I would make Heather favourite for her match and it would be a perfect time for her to get a run of wins together. Unlike you, Ace, I am hoping for a really late start and to catch the whole of Harriet's match after my other half has gone to bed - keeping my fingers crossed for a very long Wang match, and for two British wins.
You got your wish in the first match Andy - Wang-Hon went over 2 and a half hours and it was Hon who came through 7-6 in the third. Hopefully Harriet can set up a Brisbane rematch.
