Week 33 - ITF (W100) - Vancouver, Canada - Hard

There'll obviously be a new thread created in due course, but an interesting Q1 for Katie S, a QWC who's just turned 15 in Katrina Scott. Looks like she gave Babos a good game recently, but a good chance for Katie.

Wow, comeback complete. 7-5. I've been watching the Cincy final, but will get a stream for the second set - and no doubt a bad omen, ha.

I stopped watching at 1-5. Came back at 2-0 - now it's 2-1 and I'd better not watch for a few minutes

Is anyone else's stream almost unwatchable? Mine is stopping all the time and repeating points. Just as well Hev is leading, because with that, as well as SSTs horrid grunt (despite limited power) and serving action, it would almost be unbearable.

I was being lazy and was watching on Bet365, but have switched to the ITF site and it's fine, well the grunt is still there, bit the stream is good, ha.

SST is like a hitting partner, just prepared to keep the ball in play. Heather either hits winners or unforced errors. Winning or losing will be down to Heather.

Heather should have closed out the game at *4-2 but played three poor points at 40-30.

This is a good match. SSTs ability to keep the ball so low over the net is quite something, lost count of the number of balls that I was sure were going into net.

Getting tight now, two tight games go away and Hev looking hot and bothered

*4-4

Bad miss from Heather at 30-30 is matched by an equally poor one from SST to blow the break point.

5-4*

Heather is in the qualie draw for the US Open, seeded 8 and has drawn Bolkvadze.

The other Brits are Naiktha v Cepelova, Harriet seeded 29 against Loeb and Katie S against Scott.

Happy and relieved to see Heather is there - now let's see if she can win here.

Yay!! And the additional 55 points for winning covers her 2018 US Open qualification too. So a great return for the week.

Well, I thought Hev definitely deserved that. Even in the first set, when she went so far behind, she was actually playing some very good tennis, more aggressive, striking cleanly...

Great fight, and to close it out.

Well done !
