 After a pretty decent Wimbledon I'd been hoping to see him kick on especially with very little to defend in the last few months of the year. But as has been said it seems to have been a disastrous decision to play these clay court events.

Bad light stopped play, as they say in cricket, after 2 hours & 53 minutes.  Jan had his chances in the second set:  he was a break up, but failed to capitialise.  cry
