Week 32 - ITF (W25) - Chiswick, Great Britain - Hard

Ali has twice served for the first set, but it's gone to a tie break. Been a lot of breaks throughout.

I was rather surprised to see Holly H was a 1/6 favourite vs Nell although other than their good QR1 wins here I am not really aware of their progress of late.

Anyway I see that it's first set to Holly by 7-5.

Seems rather more pressure on the Holly serve though. She has had 55 first serves and saved 9/10 BPs as against 37 first serves by Nell who has saved 2/4 BPs.

Ola Pitak beat Morgan C  6-1 6-0 !

Joanna G best Abigail  6-3 7-5  - looks decent effort

Holly H  7-5 *2-1 vs Nell

Tanysha  6-4 1-2*

Ali  6-7(4) *2-4

Ali lost the tie break and lost 4 games in a row from 2-1* in the second, and the opponent has 3 MPs, so that looks gone.

Tanysha won the first set 6-4, but is now 1-4* down in the second. Assuming it does go to a MTB, hopefully that will work more in her favour where it's more of a lottery for the higher ranked player who has the momentum.

Garland beat Abigail 6-3 7-5. Looks a decent effort from Abigail to get the second set to 5-5 considering Jo was a massive 1/33 fave.

Edit - was typing that out while Indi was posting, so a lot of dupe info. I wasn't even aware that Ola had played her FQR, it was over so quick - made a bit of a mockery of those pretty close pre match odds - judging by that, you'd think she'd be the one 1/33.

Wow, probably too little too late, but Ali broke back from 0-40*, triple MP, to break and keep it alive, for now.

Aw, she saved 2 more MPs to bring it back to deuce, but Ali eventually goes down 6-7 3-6. That's 2 reasonably close battles that Rush1ti has had against young Brits, particularly the Holly S Q1 match where she was a set and break down, and if Ali had served this out (she only managed to hold 3 times which was a big issue) then she's have been guaranteed a MTB. Judging by this, I'd be quite happy to see one of our players in the main draw who face a Q draw her.

I also wouldn't mind Ola and Holly vs GB players, to guarantee a place in R2.

Not so close in the second set. Holly H beats Nell  7-5 6-1

Looks like another MTB going the wrong way, Tanysha had a 5-2* lead, but has lost the next 5 points. GB players have lost all 4 MTBs today (before this) againt oveseas players.

Actually, I must have been including this (pessimistically) as it was just the 3.

Tanysha lost 6-10 in the MTB.

So that's 2 through, and certainly at least 1 more than I was expecting this morning, but maybe a little bit of a shame we couldn't get one more through. Tanysha going from 5-2 to 6-10, and Holly S having the set and a break lead, and then 5-3 in the MTB, to guarantee a GB vs GB match had she won. Ali served for the first set twice, and then maybe even K Pitak - she lost at the first hurdle so was a long way off, but she won the first set in her Q1 match and lost the MTB 8-10, so close, and her opponent went on to beat Q1 Noel 6-2 6-1, after just getting past Iman herself 10-7 in the MTB so clearly mustn't have been having a great day and maybe an opportunity missed for either of those Brits.

Still, 2 through is decent. Shame we have lost Gabi in the main draw, but 11 in the main draw is good. I'd be happy with Emily App vs Ola and Alice vs Holly H, when the Qs are placed.

Hmm, there are ten vacancies in the main draw. Five of them to play seeds.

Have to wait and see...........

That's what I didn't quite understand - there are ten spots but only 8 qualifiers....... what gives?
