Whew, 3rd time of asking, Sam finally manages to serve out... and now is through to the SF and has wiped out her points loss from last year (well 18 pts to 19). And Gramm etc has had a relatively easy run so far, but several tight matches including against Lily yesterday, so it would be wonderful if Sam could go one better than she did last year....
QF: Samantha MURRAY (GBR) [8] 337 vs Ankita RAINA (IND) [2] 195 (CH:164 Feb 19) 6-2 5-7 6-4
SF: Samantha MURRAY (GBR) [8] 337 vs Valentini GRAMMATIKOPOULOU (GRE) [4] 207 (CH:158 Nov 18)

Good win for Sam and interesting that she plays the same opponent again. Sam is playing some of her best stuff for a while and Gramm has went 3 in every match so far (all vs players outside the top 500), including Ali, and just sneaked past Lily 7-6 in the third, so could be vulnerable. Jodie has beaten her twice this season, but she did beat Heather in RG quals - she's played a few Brits this year - Katie B at Fed Cup, and then Alicia in a W100 grass event.
Would be great if she could win and better last year, but she has matched it, and surpassed her own seeding with this win, so a very good week regardless.
CD, having watched Sam play earlier this week I can confirm that she's playing really well. You can see from the scores that there are occasional lapses, but on the whole her tennis is excellent at the moment.
Oh, I believe you, the addict - I saw her at Wimbledon qualis this year, twice, and she was on great form.
That's what I mean about the last two tournament results being disappointing (and one is always OK, but two can get you worried - hence everyone's jokes about her getting married and lost her mojo )

Yeah, a couple of disappointing first round defeats as a seed, particularly last week, but I was just meaning in general from that Israel W25 when she lost to Jodie in the semi final. She's had some great runs since then (particularly Manchester), picking up a lot of points and notable wins - Bouzkova at the time (I think that ended up being indoors) looked particularly impressive, and it looks even more so now that Marie has finally made it into the top 100, and backed that up by reaching the Toronto QF as a qualifier this week and heading towards the top 50.
