Week 32 - ITF (W25) - Chiswick, Great Britain - Hard

Good effort by Lissey, but guess she ran out of gas after that first set.

The Swiss qualifier who beat Naiktha yesterday has just lost in two.

Blueberry George is through, no trouble.

Greta Arn won more easily today, against the 5th seed, than she did yesterday against Angelica.

Shame for Lily

Just the two breaks of serve in Freya's match - the fourth game and the 18th game - both the wrong way as she loses 6-3 6-4

Doubles matches going to be a bit later than scheduled as the singles have been quite long.
One match under way though - the G's have taken the first set against the P's 6-3

Tight match, but the GG's have it 6-3 7-5
(See the momentum graph for the match !)

Pity Lissey so totally ran out of gas; Freya's score not at all bad against a plyer in the top 200. Hope she can continue to build on the last two weeks, which have been more promising for her...
So QFs and just Sam left now...

R16: Alicia BARNETT (GBR) 645 lost to Lesley KERKHOVE (NED) [1] 184 (CH:149 Oct 17) 7-6(5) 2-6 0-6

R16: Samantha MURRAY (GBR) [8] 337 def Emily APPLETON (GBR) [IR] 549/20 6-2 6-0
R16: Freya CHRISTIE (GBR) [WC] 676 lost to Ankita RAINA (IND) [2] 195 (CH:164 Feb 19) 3-6 4-6

QF: Samantha MURRAY (GBR) [8] 337 vs Ankita RAINA (IND) [2] 195 (CH:164 Feb 19)

Yes, some sharp inclines and a particularly long precarious decent nearing the finish line. Tough stage.

My immediate impression is that this is Freya and Sam's week. They are an established pair whilst the others are all scratch pairs who will come close but not quite.
If Beth and Valenini had played more than just the one match together (plus the two games in the first round) I might give them a chance at the title.

I really do hope Sam wins. As said many times, Raina is one of those players who you see playing singles and you think 'how on earth did you get to be ranked so high'? I had hopes for Freya yesterday, but thought it might be rather a big ask.
But c'mon Sam !

Sam serving for the first set, and she'll get a couple of chances, *5-2.

She only needs the one, please keep this up Sam, you're still down on the week overall.... 6-2

Hmm, Sam broke early in the 2nd set to go 2-0 up, but then lost the break at 3-3, after which the set went on serve till Sam was broken serving to save it at 5-7.
Irritatingly live scores is not showing the in-game scores, though momentum does. So a set each now, and not looking so good.

6 DF's in that second set - could explain why it was so close.

Breaks immediately in the third, so now 2-0*
