Week 32 - ITF (W25) - Chiswick, Great Britain - Hard

OK, Naithka. One set all. Time to buckle down and see this thing out.....

Alice seemingly lost her match against the Chinese top-10 youngster in two quite tight sets.

Naithka is back to 4-4.......

Naithka is 5-5*
Scoreboard frozen for Alice at MP down in the second set tie-break.

Ola is currently on that court, so we can assume she lost, but a decent effort as CD says.

Tie break at best for Naiktha.

Well that's a miserable couple of weeks for Naiktha. Seeded in 2 events, draws the world #579 and #828 and nothing to show for it.

Bizarrely exactly the same thing happened to the scoreboard last week at Woking when Alice lost in two long sets to Lee! Perhaps the board is an Alice fan and doesn't believe she can ever lose!

And Ola loses 2 & 0.....

Three GB matches today and three losses.

Poor Holly is doing a decent job but, against the top seed, it's a hard ask to expect her to carry all GB hopes....

Yeah, it was Naiktha the big disappointment today. While you still hope, any sets won by the other 3 would have a decent return.

So 4 through, not too bad, probably par, or maybe slightly below when you consider 2 were seeds, 1 guaranteed win and then, while contested, Emily was still a pre match fave, so did have a good chance of winning. Alicia also had a decent chance, and proved it, while the rest would have caused an upset if they won. Any less than 4 would have been pretty poor.

Good luck to them all, and at least we will have interest on Friday again.

Three of the four doubles matches have finished with the seeds going through.
Roundup to follow later this evening.

So looking like just Sam for the singles QF. But let's hope for more.

The 4th doubles match didn't improve Naiktha's day.

Emily App & Emily Arb beat (1) Naiktha & Ankita Raina by 7-5 6-3
