Can Jack send the Jurij out? Will be interesting to see how the case goes....
That only works if you pronounce "Jurij" as a monolingual Brit would, but, either way, yes, he can!
SF: (5) Jack Draper WR 430 defeated (1) Jurij Rodionov (AUT) WR 317 by 1 & 4
Surely a monolingual brit would pronounce it with the j sound at the end too making it not sound like jury? I think takes an appreciation of both languages to get the joke
I worked on the assumption that the final "j" was being conveniently overlooked, as these things frequently are in throwaway remarks/jokes.
Congrats to Ben ! And Bath Uni and their tennis programme.
Interesting that Ben barely played juniors, never got a junior ranking, is only born 1998, and has won a 15k dubs title this year, runner-up in a 25k, and now winner of a 25k title.
He also was a key part of our Uni tennis team, at the World Uni Masters, and such.
He's up against Sijsling's record of having come from a set down to win every other singles match this week but, good news, he's serving for the match at *5-1 in the 3rd!

I think the points should take him to just inside the top 350 but there seems to be plenty of uncertainty!
74 now + 20 - 1 = 93 tomorrow + 20 - 4 = 109 on Monday week and in the current (actual, not live) rankings, 109 points is enough for WR 345-346.
When I spoke to Jack at Chiswick on Thursday (he seems to have a very mature outlook on his career), he said he's intending to take a very short break then play Futures in Israel, return to the UK for the Murray Trophy in Glasgow and then probably attempt more Challengers in the autumn.
He'll be the top 17-year-old in the ATP singles rankings on Monday week (Tseng, who beat him in the Wimbledon junior final last year, had his 18th birthday a few days ago and Sinner, currently the top 17-year-old, turns 18 next week) - not bad for someone who broke his finger in a freak accident in November, had another growth spurt, suffered two separate stress fractures and was hardly able to even train, let alone play, for quite a while!
Obviously he has lots of points due to come off in September, but I don't think it should take him too long to cover them and start moving up again.
