Despite how terrible the transition tour was it looks like it may have left us with a better system than before.
A sidenote how come Jubb's ranking is much lower now despite all the wins etc Pre wimbledon?
His drop in rankings is because in the once again combined rankings he only added 2 Slovakia future SF 4 pointers ( his Lithuania title points having, as Bob suggested, already rolled off ) and was passed by loads of players adding many more ITF points. He had college to attend rather than pile up ITF points, now ATP points again.
His ATP grass season points were already in his 29/07 WR 430 and it's then the little to add that has dropped him to his 05/08 WR 622.
These final 2 ITF 4 pointers drop out of his points on 12/08 and 19/08 to be replaced by his Roehampton 6 points from last week and whatever he earns this week.
Then he has nothing to points to drop off at all until next year's grass seaon and I believe he is taking a college break so should get quite a few tournaments in to help push up his ranking.
For now WR 622 on 35 points from just 6 counters clearly doesn't reflect his true ability. But in the longer term it's no real biggie and his game is progressing well.

I've not followed too closely but jubb seemed like he was close to getting into challengers and now this drop feels like it takes him a long way back. Is that a correct feeling and if so, it costs him quite a lot perhaps?
I think Paul Jubb's ranking fall is down to a technicality. He hadn't played almost any ITF events, so when the realignment happened, his points tally stayed the pretty much same. There are a lot of other players who had been playing ITF tournaments all year and getting NO ATP points at all. Suddenly they were all given those ATP points retrospectively and their rankings jumped.
So Paul hasn't fallen backwards at all IMO. It is just others who played ITFs have overtaken on this technicality.

I don't think so because he will be heading back to college soon enough anyway. At least, that was the intention around Wimbledon time, to finish his studies and then turn pro.
With 6 of the 8 singles matches today involving Brits, we are guaranteed one winner, and have two (Jack and Paul) who most certainly should win, given seedings.
The other three play the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd seeds, and so - in theory - should lose easily.
Damn - Mark was my top hope for an unlikely but possible mega upset, mainly because Rod. has hardly been winning anything recently, one decent run and that's it .....
