Week 32 - Challenger ($81,240+H) - Nordic Naturals, Aptos, CA, USA (hard)

Pity

Good though to see Evan so competitive at challenger level. I did question a bit so many grass season WCs on the back of 'just' ITFs ( albeit a good points haul as shown in the once again integrated rankings ) but he does seem to be pushing on.

Nice match by Liam - well within himself - Ram not playing that great but Liam needed to be solid.

That is a decent win  Liam and also lloyd seem to have found some form.

The us swing ar challenger level has prove  a happy hunting ground over the past decade or so  , strange jay didn't go for it

Yes, Jay's losing his way at the moment I feel, more than just on the tennis court. For one I expect the effects of that Wimbledon mixed doubles fiasco have lingered on.

Only just noticed that a first round win in his level of tournament is worth 5 but you then only get an extra 3 points for a second round win. Seems madness. Considering you will player someone higher ranked to get those extra 3 points.

Liam heading for the big time:

L16:  Liam Broady WR 263 vs (2) Steve Johnson (USA) WR 93 (CH = 21 in July 2016)

As Madadman has pointed out, however, there's little or no incentive for him to make the extra effort to win that, since he would gain only three extra ranking points by doing so.  Surely five or seven (10 or 12 for a last 16 win) would offer a little more hope?

Liam has now won the first 2 rounds that Madadman was talking about. There is now a further 9 points on offer for a L16 win.

The points go: 5, 8, 17, 33, 55, 90

Edit: removing additional waffle I temporarily had in regarding seeding.

I do find it strange that you get 5 points for an R1 win, but only 3 for an R2 win.
