I haven't watched any of the match so can't tell how Thiem has played, but Medvedev has just beaten him by a similar scoreline, 3 and 1, so although Kyle probably won't take anything from that, and it doesn't make it any less emphathic, it just shows that when on it, Medvedev can be really really good. That's 7 straight set wins out of 8, against a lot of good players, and it was only a rare dialled in Kyrgios that got the better of him, in 2 tight TB sets.

dont normally pick up on typos, but that one is quite a lovely one as it could be emphatic or empathic, both depending on an extra h and both meaningful in the context of the sentence.  Of course it would need to say more empathic to make good sense if used that way, so not quite a perfect double meaning, but very nearly.  :)

Final is Rafa vs Medvedev.

Monfils sadly played a full qf match earlier in day over 2 and a half hours , and turned his ankle, giving rafa a walk over. Despite chris goldsmith implying monfils was showing a lack of integrity.

Edit , apologies my auto spelling automatically changes monfils to another word that might have made no sense at all!

Pity.

Yes Mr Goldsmith seems to fair like an implication or 300, be it tennis, football or whatever.

Pft, anyone who follows tennis knows that Monfils is one of a few players that is known to be injured a fair bit (see also: Nishikori) and is just coming back from an injury anyway.

Rafa is cruising here 6-3, 3-0* up with a BP

Rafa ensures that he will be 2nd seed for the US Open.

With the 600 Cincinnati RU points from last year that Fed drops, he can't overtake Rafa in the 19.08 rankings.
