Well I've just watched some of the replay of Kyle's match. The commentator just seemed to think Medvedev was outstanding from the off but Kyle also seemed to be totally flat from the off. Such a drubbing. There must be a bit more explanation for this I feel?
Agreed, so what are we calling this 3&0 display by Kedders?
Tired, lack luster, injured, out played, what?
I didn't see the game but was shocked at this scoreline. Relatively little reaction.
This is a 2019 pattern for Kyle. A decent win, maybe two and then followed by an absolute shocker (or ret).
The questions that come to mind are these lack lustre sets or whole matches physically related ( is the knee still an issue? ) or mentally related ( certainly he has talked about addressing big match fall-aways with his previous coach ).
So very far off playing consistently near his top level. Very difficult to predict any Kyle match.
I haven't watched any of the match so can't tell how Thiem has played, but Medvedev has just beaten him by a similar scoreline, 3 and 1, so although Kyle probably won't take anything from that, and it doesn't make it any less emphathic, it just shows that when on it, Medvedev can be really really good. That's 7 straight set wins out of 8, against a lot of good players, and it was only a rare dialled in Kyrgios that got the better of him, in 2 tight TB sets.

I mean Domi won a title at the weekend in Austria so he has had a pretty good few weeks too.
Yeah, had a couple of good wins this week too. Shapo (in Montreal, which isn't easy), and then Cilic. You (or I) do get the impression that Medvedev is one of the few who could give the Big 3 a decent match more often than not.
Khachanov vs. Medvedev in Canadian Open SF will be the highest level meeting between two Russian players in men's tennis history.
There have been all-RUS finals at 250-level tournaments, SF at 500-level but only one QF above ATP 500 Davydenko vs. Andreev at 2008 Monte Carlo.
Joe is having a great season. Does he have a shot at getting to the world tour finals?
Definitely , he and rajeev are just nestling in top 8 but there is quite a close battle around the places on the cusp. This next few weeks through us open could be pivotal
