Week 31 - ITF M25 - Roehampton, UK (hard)

Inspired by Steven - see Tabarka thread

A player called Alistair Gray
Won three matches all in one day
In singles hes flowing
In doubles with Ewan
My goodness this young man can play.

And now we've got rid of the last all-pesky pair in the doubles, we do at least guarantee one GB title-holder

Really intrigued to see how Jubb-Draper goes tomorrow. Bookies have Paul 4/5 and Jack 10/11, and that literally couldn't be any closer unless they were priced exactly the same - Paul the ever so slight favourite. A shame it wasn't the final in some ways, not to take anything away from the other 2 semi finalists.

Mr Daniel Cuckierman, the qualifier from Israel, very kindly single-handedly took out three Frenchmen - and well done, that man!

But he's now beating up our Ali Gray rather (although it's early days, 0-3). Which is not the same and has to be stopped !

Cuckierman's an interesting case - he had to spend three years in the Israeli army, from 18-21, and then went off to US college at 22 (he's about 24 now). He's at the Uni of Southern California. So he's behind the curve a bit (and didn't play any ITF juniors at all, from what I can see).

But he's obviously a very decent player. He says:

"In 2016, I beat Amir Weintraub, who is 160 in the world, at the Israel Championship. I lost in the finals to the #17 in the world"

However, if he could kindly rein it in a bit now, that would be appreciated.....

Jack and Paul locked at 4-4, they have exchanged breaks, and Jack seems to be winning the extended games.

So frustrating that there's no stream for this - I'd so love to watch our best two young male prospects fighting it out on court!

And in other news, Ali Gray has just fought back to take the 2nd set 6-4.

Yes, and it would have been so easy for them to set up a fixed camera at the least.
