Week 31 - ITF (W25) Woking, Great Britain Hard

I know they lost a day on Tuesday to the weather, but didn't realise they were playing both the QF and SF today. Assumed it was a Sunday final for some reason.

1) Kerkhove vs 6) Georges - just getting underway now

Dodin vs 2) Ozgen

Victory for Eden and Beth, over Sam and Freya, 6-3 7-6(7)

Sarah Beth GREY (GBR)/Eden SILVA (GBR) CR347 (177+170) [1] def Freya CHRISTIE (GBR)/Samantha MURRAY (GBR) CR455 (198+257) [3] 6-3 7-6(7)

If Heissen had one the second set tie-break in her singles QF and then gone on to win the match, I wonder if she would have withdrawn from the doubles SF ? Three matches in one day might have been a little too far.

Well, it was the two French women predicted, who've come through (which was no surprise, hardly a tricky call). But they're both decent players.

And I enjoyed watching Kerkhove play at the Wimbly qualis.

Ozgen's tennis sets my teeth on edge sometimes but she's certainly gritty.

But overall, and given there are no Brits, they've got decent semi-finalists, and hope the organisers are happy.

Doubles

Beth and Eden get a W/O into the semi-final. Two other matches on court now, with the Pitak's to follow.

(Sorry Ace, I've been following some of these girls progress in doubles for a few years, so always keeping an eye on the scores)

And so we will have either three or four British players in the doubles final. Which is very nice and welcome smile

Either 2 or 3 I believe unless you know something about current peskies

Felt it in my bones smile

FWIW, the top 2 seeds ended up making the final in the singles.

Good stuff

Takes Beth and Eden to 489 points and 484 points respectively, so each to around WR 150 on Monday ( their current 29/07 rankings are 160 and 159 respectively ), as GB #4 and #5.
