Week 31 - ATP 500 - Citi Open, Washington DC, USA (hard)

Thoroughly enjoyed that Kyrgios match. Even the TB went one way to the other, went from 5-1* NK to *5-6. Should be an interesting final as well, Tsitsi and Medvedev seem to have played each other so many times over the past couple of years, so this should be a bit different.

10pm, unless the WTA final goes very long (7pm).

So pleased for Nick, worth staying up for. Sorry for him with his back pain (his posture is pretty shocking though so it's not surprising really ).

Definitely  And you would have thought Medvedev would need a break also

Just to add, didn't/couldn't see the match - but thrilled that Nick K won - I've got a huge amount of time for the guy (even though he's completely out of order sometimes). He invests a lot of his time in furthering the game, is a breath of fresh air and plays great tennis. And no one's perfect....

I think Tara summed it up well:

Funny how everyone says what a **** @NickKyrgios is but yet I spy him at almost every tournaments kids day... #cantbethatbad #supportingtennis #dareisayrolemodel?

Nick knows he is a role model, he says it often enough in pressers and interviews and the like.

A superb outcome. The main people who do not like Nicholas are joyless mood hoovers.

I don't like him and wouldn't say i'm joyless.

The reason I don't like him is that he comes across entitled, like life owes him something. Millenials for you :o ( I can say that seeing as technically i am one)

I think his interview after the match really did say a lot.

what were you most proud of this week?
How Professional I was away from the court

He may be temperamental, but given everyone and their dog complain that modern sportspeople / tennis players are automatons, we can hardly complain when someone comes along that bucks that trend.

It's also useful to compare him to, say, Bernard Tomic - who has all the petulance but none of the actual love of tennis and does little-to-no promotion of the game. Or, say, Yann Marti who gets himself banned every other month through behaviour, but lacks ability to entertain.
