Long break between sets, think both went off court and took a sizeable break, likely due to the heat, but an immediate break for KS in the 2nd. *1-0.

Katie got out of such a position though in her R1 match vs Frech.

Hmmmm.....sorry Katie - the vibes didn't work.

But Ellen served a dream when she had to serve out the match.

It was the game at 2-3 where you shouldn't have got broken - do the put away into the open court, not back at the player !

But very good week. The best tennis she's played for ages, in my view.

Ah what a shame - I was trying to watch, but doing other stuff too, so didn't really get into the match. Glad to hear that Katie played well - that's encouraging.

Short term disappointment, longer term optimism. She'll be circa 240 on Monday's rankings which I don't think will be good enough for the US Open. I'm pretty sure 241 got Bucsa last in to Wimbledon, but then there were 5 MDWCs not used to push that entry back. Bit of a shame if that happens as she got 30 points for her FQR last year. However, 3 wins in a W60, 2 as the betting underdog, and a lot better than it was looking when Frech was serving for the match. Something to build on in her remaining US tournaments.

Oh that last game went very quickly. I hadn't even transmitted my final c'mon.

Not good enough in the end today but indeed as CD says, all in all a good week and hopefully she can built on this.

Hopefully she will yet sneak into US Open qualifying but that will almost certainly be a waiting job, as she presumably won't be that close in the initial cut.
