Excellent confidence-building win, ... one match at a time Katie.

Katie is 2nd on Court 3 today. Play starts at 3pm UK, so probably around 5pm. There will be an ITF stream.

The match before Katie was done in an hour, so Katie should be on very soon.

2017 Wimbledon Junior finalist and 3rd seed Ann Li has also easily won her match, so that's who Katie will play if she wins.

Very good first set 6-1, 6 games in a row. Will serve first in the 2nd as well.

Katie really is playing very well. Great to see.

(And Gail is making some awful errors too).

Katie 6-1

Katie resumes and wins the first game of the 2nd set to love, but live scores is still on its break...

Scoreboard seems to have packed in now.

Edit - what Michael says. Really annoying as I was having it on in the background and dipping in and out of it.

EXTREMELY impressive defensive play there from Katie!! Fashions a break out of nothing to go 3-1 up second set.
Was 0-40 down in that game, but after a DF got her to 30-40, the next two points she just kept retrieving 'winners' from Brodsky. To gain the ad especially she retrieved easily 4-5 shots that all looked like they could be winners until dispirited Brodsky mi**** an overhead near the net.

And holds relatively easily so 4-1 now.

Only blip for Katie is that she was broken to 30 serving for the match, but she broke again next game to win.

R16: SWAN, Katie (GBR) 256 def BRODSKY, Gail (USA) 306 (CH=182 2012) 6-1 6-2

QF: SWAN, Katie (GBR) 256 vs LI, Ann (USA) [3] 172 (CH:167 May 19) 19yrs (JCH:12 Jan 18)

Good to see

Tough looking QF though her CH 163 when playing consistently better than of late is slightly the better. From currently live 240s, a further win would take Katie into the 230s and in much better contention for a US Open qualifying spot. She would move to a few points behind Naiktha, 247 points to 242.
