Sam is under-ranked and a talented, athletic player, with very little help/zero from the UK tennis system. He's played three matches here and only lost three games.
I like Charlotte's game too (although not quite in Sam's league) - but she plays a fluid game, with good arm speed, which is nice to see.
Boys QF:
Matthew RUTTER (GBR) [4] 6-2 6-3 Nicolas HERRERO CUESTA (ESP)
Ondrej HORAK (CZE) [3] 6-1 6-1 Louis SKUPIEN (GBR) [7]
Sam BOSSEM (GBR) [2] 6-2 6-0 Max GRAHAM (GBR)
Girls QF:
Charlotte RUSSELL (GBR) [1] 7-6(2) 7-5 Sarah O'CONNOR (IRL)
As predicted, Sam walked this tournament - he is far higher than G4 standard, and under-ranked; should have had a WC into the Wimbly qualis in my view.
But it's good to learn to do the business, easily and without fuss, against lower opposition too, so well done to him.
Charlotte came up short against the French unseeded 2004-born girl who made the final in Cork. Her dubs final to come....
Boys FINAL: Sam BOSSEM (GBR) [2] def. RYS (CZE) [6] 6-4 6-1
Girls FINAL: Chloe NOEL (FRA) def. Charlotte RUSSELL (GBR) [1] 6-2 6-2
