That Chloe is ahead of Emilie is a by-product of the split rankings that will be resolved next month so I don't think needs mentioning again. That players with Chloe's record can have a WTA ranking at all is a more pertinent issue that really needs dealing with. I don't blame Chloe at all. If she can take advantage of badly designed rules all credit to her.
As an aside, I haven't checked the latest rankings but on entry rankings Chloe is 3rd seed. Carrillo Marin is top seed. Seeds are WTA top 650, ITF top 30, then remaining WTA and ITF.
Brilliant to see Chloe Compson (who's never won a MD match at ITF level, and barely a Q one) as second seed
Yes Emilie Lindh - currently without a WTA ranking but with a good few matches won - is behind her in the seeds.
My 'brilliant', obviously, was rather tongue in cheek.....daft, the whole thing........
Yes, I know CD... and I was just emphasising the irony of it all .... As 2nd seed hope she wins a few games in her first round match. Even any qualifier she meets will have a higher ITF ranking than her, meaning they've won more matches at W15 level. She did at least get some games in her last match against a player who did well subsequently...
And a very good looking win for the girl/woman of mystery Angelica Blake. 6-1 6-4 over the 6th seed Lithuanian Andre Lukosiute, who often does will in these type of events. If this was her first match since her nationality switch a few months ago, then it's a pretty good start.

Four direct British entries for the US Open - Konta, Edmund, Norrie and Evans. As expected, Andy Murray hasn't used his protected ranking. Heather Watson six out of main draw.
(I was going to put the British Tour matches up when they got to the QFs but no problem, of course, with putting them up earlier, the addict ! )
