I can't help feeling that Serena is going to pull out. She's been less than great in her two singles matches. Alternatively if she plays into some form she may withdraw later in the tournament to protect her knee. I remember Steffi Graf did that to John McCenroe in 1999. Think they got through to the semis and then she pulled out because she wanted to focus on singles. J-Mc was NOT happy by all accounts. I hope Murray considered this carefully and wasn't just starstruck by Serena, he must understand that there is a high risk of them not playing or pulling out.
It seems most unlikely that Murray was "starstruck" However, given the way that that Serena came out at the press conference saying she wanted to do this, it looked to me as though Andy was rather pushed into a corner It would have been quite embarrassing for him after all that to come out and say he didn't want to play with her and had chosen someone else. I suspect he may not play out his partner selection in quite such a public way in future.
I agree but it's not as if Andy is approaching the two doubles opportunities equally. Despite my love of the mixed doubles (I would love to see more money and some points (although perhaps not quite as many)), I suspect his real eye is on men's with the mixed an opportunity to have a little fun and get more match time.
Joe/Katie and Scott/Beth were both very entertaining matches - and the second was closer than the score suggests. And they all enjoyed themselves.
(not easy watching 3 matches at once !)
Unfortunately I couldn't watch any of Heather and Henri's match. And now, no replays available of Court 2 matches and not even a tiny taste of it was on Today at Wimbledon
