Lovely win for Eden and Evan... But to note they do get just £3,500 (very welcome I'm sure for them) for reaching the second round. Very different from the men's/ women's doubles where the payment is £19,000 for reaching the 2nd round. That's total payment, still has to be split.

And they get a 'win at Wimbeldon'.
And to play top players. And to get the whole strawberries and cream thang for one more day
I think the mixed doubles format is perfect - not a lot of money, no points, just a fun sideline attraction.

Yes I agree CD and largely why I have no problem with mixed doubles having its place in the Slams whereas I go on a minor rant about it being an Olympic sport.
I can't help feeling that Serena is going to pull out. She's been less than great in her two singles matches. Alternatively if she plays into some form she may withdraw later in the tournament to protect her knee. I remember Steffi Graf did that to John McCenroe in 1999. Think they got through to the semis and then she pulled out because she wanted to focus on singles. J-Mc was NOT happy by all accounts. I hope Murray considered this carefully and wasn't just starstruck by Serena, he must understand that there is a high risk of them not playing or pulling out.
It seems most unlikely that Murray was "starstruck" However, given the way that that Serena came out at the press conference saying she wanted to do this, it looked to me as though Andy was rather pushed into a corner It would have been quite embarrassing for him after all that to come out and say he didn't want to play with her and had chosen someone else. I suspect he may not play out his partner selection in quite such a public way in future.
(And yes, I agree with you SuperT on Andy. I think he did paint himself into a corner that wasn't the one he necessarily wanted to be in. If he was to come up against another Brit+ pair, I know which one I'm more likely to root for).
