Weeks 27 & 28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - mixed doubles

If he indeed just messaged her on Monday particularly not cool, not cool at all. Plenty of time to find an alternative partner not.

AELTC WC folk should have told Jay you can have a WC entry with Harriet again! Guess though they just deal with the final partnerships that are put in front of them, agent / LTA / someone please partner me arranged or whatever and Jay & Coco would be a WC shoo-in.

I take it Andy and Serena are a WC?

Not according to the PDF draw sheet or I'd have put it in.  I assume Serena got in on the back of her singles ranking.

It was more because their ranking is UNR I wondered.

They are UNR on doubles rankings ( as Serena is UNR ) and the forum tradition ( though briefly discussed recently re mixing it ) is to just show doubles rankings for doubles draws even if pairs may be using one or more singles ranking for entry ( often unclear ).

They are actually a PR entry, in on Andy's singles PR and Serena's singles ranking.

Ah, I see, thanks Indy. I don't normally follow dubs, so had no clue about how the rankings work. My brain couldn't reconcile UNR with no WC or PR, hence the question.

On a side note, how long has Andy got to use his PR? It seems crazy to 'waste' it on a mixed tournament.

Jay is getting a pumelling in other forums. Sigh. All I can say is that I hope he is asked later in his presser and it becomes clearer about what happened.
Nobody has an issue with Andy playing with Serena after the dubious US Open (& subsequent doubling down on) behaviour?

Pass. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable about PRs can come in.

Andy appears to also be using his singles PR for his men's doubles entry with Herbert. I don't know if there is a seperate PR quota for doubles? I think I did read some time ago that he didn't want any Wimbledon WC and deprive anyone else.

That's because he didn't promise someone else a few months ago.

The worst thing about Jay's decision is that he left it too late for Harriet to find another partner. After their run last year I find that very hard to forgive, and especially as they had agreed months ago to play together again.

Pity Andy wasn't able to step in when he was having trouble finding a partner. But Jay has evidently left it so late that the Andy / Serena partnership was already being considered, maybe even agreed by then.

Oh dear I assumed Harriet was concentrating on singles and had pulled out. Poor decision by Jay to try and raise his profile by going with the new superstar. Hope he gets beat now, it will be just desserts. Awful really.

No but Serena's attitude at the USO was disgusting which is a different kind of gross.

Ramos is a pratt though, and handled it badly. Most of the players don't like his attention seeking umpiring.

Sure Ramos is a prat but this was NOT one of those times and the actions, vilification and the fake news afterwards of Serena, her team, the people at the USO etc are all to blame. Ramos was just doing his JOB. He followed the rules to the letter of the umpire law, to the letter.

It's a huge blow for Harriet to get dumped at the last minute. Apart from wanting to play on the big stage, the money our mid rank players earn in these two weeks goes a long way to financing them throughout the year, and the doubles plays a part in that too. I'm not a Serena fan - I was appalled by her behaviour at the US Open and disappointed when Andy agreed t play with her. I would have like to see him partner Cori, and that would have left Jay with Harriet, but it's all about timing of course.

Perhaps this is what Harriet needed to incentivise her to maximise her singles earnings, then!

Can anyone show any proof that Jay and Harriet had an agreement to be partners ? I'm positive I saw something on Instagram or Twitter some months ago, and want to quote it in response to an argument. (Not the BBC article, something definite)
