I am beginning to wonder how Jo is going to perform on the tennis court as she has done a fashion shoot for Stella Magazine and a big article in Hello Magazine about her boyfriend.. Apart from any other distractions, Hello magazine has a reputation for relationships breaking up.

It's part of her job of being a tennis player. It can't be all practice on courts. She was also cooking today...is that also an issue? Possibly/probably the magazine shoots were a while ago and just timed to come out now when exposure is highest. It's like when people complain about Heather doing the Always ads. I am sure Jo will be absolutely fine and if she isn't it won't be down to Stella or Hello!
This may be an unpopular opinion but it seems to me that Heather should call it a day in Singles. Even when she was at her peak she was limited by her lack of power which meant those who can hit heavier balls would blow her off the court especially on her own serve but while it used to be a small group of players who could do that the power in the women's game has increased significantly over the years so while it may have used to be just the top20 who could put her under pressure its now like the top100 and its not going to get any easier. And unlike say Wozniacki who is still a bit underpowered she hasn't been able to improve that area or find tools to combat it. Her only way to try and combat it is trying to hit it harder and whenever she tries her form on the shot goes out of the window.
Her game in modern tennis just seems way more suited for doubles and imho it would not only help herself as I can't see anything but the ranking slump continuing but would also help the Fed Cup team
Im cackling at the quality of this match. The lack of first serves, the 65mph second serves, the errors, the awful drop shots. Im here for a rollercoaster 3 hour MESS and I will enjoy it
Also dont think Hev should retire from singles. Her whole career has been up and down, Im sure shell have another up sooner rather than later. Its not like she doesnt play doubles on the tour anyway...

Sure she has been a bit of a yo-yo player ranking wise but when you watch her more and more she gets bullied off the court by players. Heather has a lot of tools in her box but power isn't one of them and in modern women's tennis power is increasingly important. In this match, we see a 17-year-old outpowering her in rallies, its only the experience levels that is keeping it close. Especially Heathers serve which is almost a free game to the returner.
And yes she plays doubles on tour but there is generally only so far you can go in doubles while splitting time between the two, there is a fair amount of specific training doubles needs to be top quality and I feel she has good enough hands that if she did focus on it she could do pretty well
