Big weighting in points for grade 1, so expect some big ranking jumps for the Brits in the next few weeks.

Glad to see Ranah given a WC after recent results.

Big shame for Armarni and Milly. I would expect Milly to come through that.

Yes a pity. Not seen Matilda called Milly? I know we have Millie Bissett.

Shame that Amarni had the retire. Hopefully nothing too serious.

Nice to see some many wins. Hopefully a few more to come.

A great day for Erin, who clobbered not one but two top 40 seeds. Matilda and Destinee were also comfortable winners in round 2 over lower seeds.

Ongoing debate in the French tennis press as to whether the French players should have come here (as a couple did) or attended the big Wimbly juniors preparation grass tennis camp this week at Deauville (as most are).

Certainly, there are no French players left here so I guess that sort of answers that question?

Perhaps the French debate should be more related to why the training camp was scheduled to coincide with Nottingham.
After all it's a known date and what better a way to prepare for grass court competition than by playing on the stuff?

At least the LTA had the good sense to arrange their grass court camp on the preceding week (I think?).
A decision that looks to have been moderately successful so far.

Apologies.
I'll try not to do it again.

Put it down to inexperience

I've been putting it down to "inexperience" for many years - maybe not the right word wink

Glad to haveyou  aboard - CD and DavidC are the experts on Juniors.

It's a fair point. However, it's not much preparation if you get knocked out in the first or second round say - far better to have a full training, especially as it's on such a major surface change. I believe they are all coming for Roehampton, so I guess they think that's enough preparation. (The fact the two French girls who came over did badly will be 'proof' that the training camp idea was better - although that depends on the results of the others, indeed the results of all of them, in the event that counts).

Also, the Brevet and Bac exam schedule may have been relevant.
