Fantastic for Liam! Lets hope he can get one more win and qualify. The prize money for reaching the fqr and his doubles money should be enough to keep him going for the rest of the season. Current level of Wimbledon prize money is £28500 about $36000. His prize money to date this year $18700. Just goes to show how lucky our players are to have a grand slam with potential WCs.
Liam even said he was surprised he won afterwards in the interview which, more than anything gives you an idea of what he's been like recently, mentally/
Dennis Novak on Thiem: Hes my best friend. When he came on Monday to my match, I was seeing him for the 1st in 2.5 months. Hes #4 in the world, he doesnt have to come to Roehampton to watch qualifying but hes a really, really good friend of mine and it also helps me a lot.

good stuff. At the end of the Ilkley final, Novak literally smashed his racket on his tennis shoe til it snapped, demolished it. But it seemed like an act of "i need to be seen to be doing this" as opposed to genuine anger, like a parody!
Jannick Sinner, born 2001, with no real great junior ranking, knocked the ball out of the court here.
He lost 12-10 in the third to Alex Bolt - but got a LOT of the coaches and bods talking - huge hitting.
Re Liam's match today, Greg B played a very strange first round match, very disinterested, didn't look as though he wanted to be there, taking Gallic blasé-ness to its limit. Was very lucky to get the second set tb 7-6(5) and then set himself up for the third. Could so easily have been out. Didn't see his QR2 match. But if he's not 'feeling' it today either, then Liam may well be able to take every advantage.
