Worthy of note is that Arthur Fery won his only player of the month vote in July 2020, during Covid, a full 6 years ago. Im not sure of what he did to deserve that then, not sure weve got records anymore, if anyone remembers please shout!

Was it one of the Jamie Murray inspired team events that he did well in?

Just to record here that Arthur, having beaten Grigor Dimitrov in 5 sets, faces Flavio Cabolli (WR10) in the QF.
His ranking is now 63.

Thanks Indy - for some reason I thought we had lost or deleted all those old original records when we set up the PoM section, but good to see they are still there to be accessed on occasion!

More remarkable is the 6 years gap before Arthur brought himself to the fore again - on the assumption he has already made himself strong favourite for winning this month (albeit with 3 1/2 weeks to go!!)

It's in the General tennis section, which is where PoM stuff used to be and goes back to 2006 ( though PoM doesn't go back to 2006! ).

Ha, I now see elsewhere that TA had beaten me to it.

Another update - Arthur today defeated Flavio Cobolli of Italy WR10 in straight sets and will next play Alexander Zverev of Germany WR 3 in the SF of Wimbledon. Arthur's ranking is now 36. smile

They got divorced a few years back - I think the woman with the long black hair who was sitting next to Loic at the last match is the dad's new girlfriend/partner

Ah thanks, I did wonder about her.

I guess Arthur was already at college then, but wonder what his set up was when he was on holiday. Not that it matters in a way, but I like to get to know the whole picture of players if I can.

Delighted to report that, as a result of his exploits in reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon over the past fortnight, Arthur has risen 78 places in today's rankings to WR 36! biggrin

Without any disrespect to Mr Féry (or others before him) this demonstrates to me the imbalance in the scoring system. I am pleased that he is now WR36, but does anyone really believe that four matches make a world ranking?
