Katie served for the set at 5-1 and 5-3 up but has been broken twice so it is now 5-4 Swan

A good performance but a tough match for Harriet. Unfortunately this has what her grass season has been so far, promising performances against top ranked players but just the one win to show from it. Consequently her ranking is continuing to plummet too - next week she will be down to 170, and then again down to 180+ by the time that Wimbledon starts.

Tough draw for Harriet and that's a 3rd top 50 player (I think AT and YP are still in top 50) to put her out in successive tournaments, and she competed well, but she gained 130 grass points going into Wimbledon last year, whereas here it's just 30, and if she loses in the first round of Wimbledon, then she'll be around 180 in the rankings, and that's a far cry from Brisbane when a lot were chopping and changing their predictions before Jan 1st to get her in the top 100.

Hopefully she can draw a qualifier or someone allergic to grass, certainly hope it's better than last year's draw anyway.

Edit - similar to what Michael said.

Hard to avoid highly ranked players in these tournaments though - the nature of the draw. I would say it's an encouraging performance from Harriet.

Come on Katie! It's not a break til you hold serve though.

Sadly with Katie B heading down to join her

Heather started well 2-0 up then she realised that she might have a chance so quickly lost the next two games

2-2

Yes Katie B not being able to defend any of her grass points points was a big blow as well, as was Jodie not converting those 4 MPs against Lapko and subsequebtly missing the rest of the grass season.

It's just a shame what with injuries, weather and a few other factors, nobody has been able to really take advantage of the opportunities where the playing field is slightly levelled with the grass and crowd support and free entry. By that I mean those under 25 who could have top 100 potential.

You look at the Aussie summer and there were so many eye catching results from their circa 200 players like Birrell beating Vekic, or in France with 200+ Paquet reaching WTA Strasbourg semi final. It's been pretty much a damp squib so far.

Damn, Katie S has not only lost her break but been broken herself so now has to break to stay in the match. Thought she would win this but now looks out

And out she is...
