Week 26 - WTA Premier ($998,712) Eastbourne, Great Britain (Grass)

I can probably do the draw posts properly in about an hour or so but equally don't mind if someone else does them

Hadn't realised it was a 64 person draw. That's a lot of matches potentially the week before Wimbledon starts..

R64: Johanna KONTA (GBR) [14] 18 vs Dayana YASTREMSKA (UKR) 35 (CH:32 May 19)

R64: Katie SWAN (GBR) [WC] 211 vs Shuai ZHANG (CHN) 52 (CH:23 Nov 16)

R64: Heather WATSON (GBR) 122 vs Alize CORNET (FRA) 56 (CH:11 Feb 09)

R64: Harriet DART (GBR) 157 vs Anett Kontaveit (EST) 20 (CH:14 April 19)

Edit: Showing Jo's changed opponent now

I assume that the doubles draw won't be made until tomorrow, as the matches start on Monday.

I see on Instagram that Harriet, Heather and Emily W-S seem to staying in the same hotel on the seafront.

Konta and Vekic must get sick of being drawn against each other. It's a shame as I like Vekic

It's becoming a bit of a pattern. I will have a punt that Donna will get the better of Jo this time.

I wouldn't be surprised either. Vekic is a quality grass player, and what I saw of Konta in Birmingham she was still in clay mode and wasn't quite there with her timing adjusting to the quicker pace of grass. Totally understandable after all her clay matches

Harriet and Heather have a wild card into doubles. Got my hopes up when I saw Em was here!

You start to get the feeling that Jo's win loss record on grass for 2019 is going to be like her win loss record  for clay in previous years. Conversely her clay court record for 2019 is similat to her grass court record for 2017.

Well, Eastbourne is her home tournament. She's had one more week to practice, let's hope she's adjusted more now.

As above, just Heather & Harriet in the doubles and they play 3rd seeds Melichar & Peschke. Strong doubles contingent so about as fair a match up as any. Halep is also playing doubles with fellow countrywoman Raluco Olaru who face top seeds Xu & Dabrowski. Nice to see BMS in a draw again as well.

Vekic has withdrawn, and is replaced by LL Yastremska

Maybe a little better, but not too much. Yastremska came through quals (not a LL) and her ranking should have seen her into the main draw easily, so must have forgot to sign in or something to have to go through Qs in the first place.

Could be shades of Ostapenko, as when she's on and finding lines, there's not much you can do about it. Freya did take her to a tie break though.

I was a little surprised, but someone (who is usually on the ball) said LL on twitter
