Week 26 - WTA Premier ($998,712) Eastbourne, Great Britain (Grass)

That was some capitulation for sure. Something very flat for Jo. Well, she has five days now to regain energy for Wimbledon... One thing she has certainly done is to live down expectations there, which may be a good thing for her

R16: Johanna KONTA (GBR) [14] 18 lost to Ons JABEUR (TUN) 62 (CH:54 Feb 19) 3-6 2-6 (in just 70 mins)

Not sure why Konta was put on number one court . The conditions also werent great but its a big disappointment given the draw opened up and she really should have made the semi final at least .

The court allocations have been "interesting". You wouldn't think that the WTA event was higher than the ATP one.

8 of the top 10 women (before Barty's withdrawal), 13 of the top 16 women, yet the highest male they can attract is a clay courter ranked 24th. There's not way if this was a WTA international running alongside a ATP 500 that the Centre Court would be split 50/50. Halep was on the 4th main court the other day.

It's Jo's home tournament too, which is especially galling. There are times when equity is inappropriate, and this is one of them.

I'm pretty sure that was a bit of a tank in prep for Wimbledon. Should have put her on centre court!

I was there and extremely annoyed that the match was not on centre court. Basically paid for  weekly centre court tickets and needed to pay extra for court 1 apart from the fact that they had sold out. Demand exceeded supply. Had to stand watching the match. Pretty pathetic that you can't watch Jo in a British tournament. Centre court  featured Pella versus Fritz,  Really poor scheduling.  Sorry Jo didn't do better. Maybe she didn't want to risk injury just before Wimbledon, bearing in mind yesterdays .fall in the Sakkari match.

Mrs Flopniacki Lee
@Badboijayjay07

Number of Grand Slam SFs reached among #NatureValleyInternational players according to draw:

Mens Singles: total 4 SFs (4 players)

Womens Singles: total 42 SFs (14 players)

Now, do you see why the men dont deserve equal presence on center court @the_LTA?

Yes an all round scheduling disaster. What on earth were the organisers thinking no putting the hometown player - who has just come off a hugely successful clay swing - on centre?? I imagine pretty much all centre court ticket holders wanted to see Jo and were let down. And a slap in the face for Jo also. I'm pretty sure if this match was on centre Jo would have won. Jo seemed unsure court 1 was safe, and that coupled with the scheduling, why would you give 100%? Stay healthy and look ahead to Wimbledon

Yes comment made in today's Daily Mail about Angie Kerber Wimbledon Champion being out on court 2 Basically this tournament  should not have the men in it. The worst scheduling ever for Eastbourne. Basically having 2 journeyman male players on centre court a disgrace instead of the top women. Which bright spark was responsible for this?

The very fact that Guido Pella who is almost useless and allergic to grass was number 1 seed here just goes to show how ridiculous the mens event is. The women have been dealt a raw deal here. Awful scheduling really.

Alize Cornet has taken the first set of Ons Jabeur 6-1. They're playing on Court 1 again where Jo lost to Jabeur yesterday.

Ons levelled it up and had 4-3 40-0* in the decider, but then went over on her ankle on break point to then potentially serve for the match. Currently receiving a MTO, hopefully she's OK, especially with next week in mind.

She's back on court

She's done it. Still looks very uncomfortable on her ankle though. Probably be a big advantage to whoever plays her tomorrow in the semi final, that's if she doesn't withdraw as a precaution, like Konta did 2 years ago.

 Will play Angie Kerber.

Jabeur did do a Konta and retire before her semi final. She's still in the Wimbledon draw though, Kerber advances to the final to play either Bertens or Pliskova.
