So you have a SF with (3)Kyle vs Taylor Fritz and Fabbiano vs Querry.

On the women's side you have a multi GS winner (4)Kerber vs Jabeur and (2)Pliskova (RU at USO) vs (3)Bertens (one of several strong players at the moment)

Yeah but the atp event is a 250 versus a premier womens event, and the prime grass event a la queens.

I am aware it is ;) however as commented elsewhere and from other comments online you wouldn't think that was the case this week with the tournament treating it the other way around.

I am so chuffed for Kyle. Dan will be fine but Kyle really needed a confidence boost after all his problems this year. Also it's one in the eye for those on here who love to run him down. He's beaten our numbers 2 and 3 on consecutive days and can rightly claim his position as GB number 1. Now let's go and beat Fritz tomorrow!! GoKyle.

As people know I am a huge supporter of both Dan and Kyle (as well as many others) but on this occasion, I do think the win was more important for Kyle than for Dan.  Kyle needs the confidence and beating the GB Nş2 and GB Nş3 on consecutive days will be good from that perspective.

As for Evo, he has played so many grass court matches already this year, a few extra days off before Wimbledon may well work in his favour in the end.

Like you, I do get a bit frustrated by the few people (very few people) that seem to have a downer on Kyle.  Everyone has their own opinion, which is fine, but there are times when one or two here almost imply that they want him to do badly, just so they can say "I told you so".

One or two just seem to want to be noticed, bless, not just with regards to Kyle.

Lovin all the brits no question but if Kyle flops against Fritz and under performs again I will be annoyed with him.. He's just been so unpredictable for 12months or so now. Hopefully he will perform. Ok injury accepted I might be harsh.

I am happy for Kyle, you could see at the end with his jump celebration how much it meant to him. However, I am still wary about that knee as it's been very troublesome for, what, almost a year now?

Yes. Me too.  I think he said he did it in Paris last year which was Oct/Nov (?) last year. I am hoping that the problem is now gone and he can just focus on playing.

I meant to add with a GB vs GB player you can never really lose can you?
Also that h2h is now 3-0 to Kyle. I only match to catch the last few points (Dan was 40-30 up to stay in the match) but what is it that troubles Dan so much in Kyle's game?

I didn't see any of the match today.  What I do remember is that when they last played, Dan couldn't cope with Kyle's power. However that was on a higher bouncing hard court suited to Kyle's fearhand.  Dan even joked a few days later that he was still suffering nightmares dreaming about the the ball flying past him. I did read somewhere that Kyle served really well from the 2nd set onward today and that helped him get on top of the match.

The score today suggests that they are fairly evenly matched and if a rivalry builds over the next few years, that will be good for GB tennis in general. For me, one of the disappointments re Andy's era (which may not be over yet of course) was not having another GB player to push him. Not that it did Andy much harm though but from a "promoting the game" aspect, having two Brits battling it out on the biggest stage has to be a good thing.

Now if Andy can get back to anywhere near his best and we have him, Kyle, Dan and Cam ALL in the top 50, what a delightful change that would make.
